Over the next few weeks, students will continue to engage in rigorous learning during our Accelerate Ascension phase in preparation for their upcoming common assessments. With only three weeks left to prepare for the exams that is 7% if their grade, it is important that your student is here every day.  Our Aviators, who are Emergent Bilingual Students, will begin TELPAS testing next week.  Aviators will continue to participate in weekly lessons to support their social and emotional development. We’ll also be celebrating Black History Month with our spirit dress, assembly and Family Reunion.

We look forward to seeing your Aviator each day and hope to see you at the Family Reunion on the 29th!

Hobby Families-

Families, we are taking applications for the 2024-2025 school year! Hobby Secondary is looking to add to our campus and we need your help! Do you know any families that would be great additions to the Aviator community? Refer them and you will receive some swag!




TELPAS Testing is Here!
Happy TELPAS Season, Families! We’re excited to kick off annual TELPAS testing for our Emergent Bilingual students to show how much they’ve grown in their language proficiency this year. Please ensure your Aviator is on campus daily for testing and on time to begin testing by 8:45 am.

Intent to Return Drawing:



On Tuesday, 2/20 we will be holding our drawing for all Aviators who submitted their intent to return by the deadline. Students must be present on Tuesday 2/20 to win.

Items up for the drawing are:

-          Nintendo Switch

-          Apple Air Pods

-          Gift cards




Family Reunion:


We are excited to host our annual Family Reunion for Black History Month. This year, we will have music, food, and games! Please join us on February 29th from 4:30 - 6:30pm in the Hobby parking lot.

We are pre-selling food for the event for $13. Please see the information below and reach out to Ms. Goodes with any questions regarding pre-sale. 




Food Service:

Attention Aviator Families: Our campus has partnered up with Houston Food Bank's Backpack Buddies program. If you or anyone you know hasn't signed up already and is in need of free food for the weekend, please email or call our Middle School Student Support Counselor, Ms. Perez, at Stephanie.Perez@yesprep.org or (713) 967-8420. It's quick and easy to sign up! After you sign up, your student will be able to pick up and take home a bag of food every Friday.

Hobby Families-

Course Request has officially begun for the ’24-’25 school year, and students in 8th-11th grades will be able to select their high school courses for the upcoming school year! We are very excited to offer a variety of college-ready courses for students to select next year, including some exciting new courses: AP Computer Science and Junior Seminar. Please make sure to speak with your student about which courses they plan to request for next year! Parents are also requested to sign any Advanced Placement (AP) course requests to confirm your approval. Please feel free to contact Ms. Hines with any questions about course requesting. 


Soccer practices have begun!

All student athletes will be given a practice schedule at the beginning of each week. Soccer practices will be held at:

Blackhawk Park
9401 Fuqua St
Houston, TX  77075

Parents will need to pick up players from the park not Hobby at 6:00pm.

The athletic department needs your input. We are trying to collect data on game day management, so we have created a tool that will help us keep our programs running smoothly. Please scan this QR code while you ate at a game or practice and tell us how we are doing.

The Athletic Department is still selling t-shirts. The prices are $15 for S-XL and $17 for 2XL and up.
