Aviator Families,
With one more week to go, we are excited to joyously engaged in field trips and celebrations! Read below for information on next week’s events, device return, EOY Backpack policy, and resources for our summer layover!
Summer logistics and information and information to support your planning for next school year, including our dress code and school supply list, will be sent in the Hobby Secondary EOY packet next week.
Tuesday, May 28th- 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony
Thursday, May 30th- Early Dismissal/ Last Day
Monday, June 10th- Tuesday, June 21st- ASPIRE
Laptop Return:
The end of the year is here! It is time to return devices for the end of the year. Students will start turning in devices on Thursday, May 23rd through May 28th. Please be sure to turn in chargers with the laptops.
EOY Celebrations:
We are excited to celebrate our students with different opportunities next week:
Tuesday, May 28th: All students with signed permission slips who turned in $5 will be going to El Franco Lee Park and have Chick-fil-a for lunch. Students will be monitored by staff, but please talk with your students about behavioral expectations before they attend. Students attending can wear school appropriate athletic wear bottoms with a Hobby Spirit Shirt. Students should not be wearing crocs or slides as we will be outside and active. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle with them. Bags must be smaller than 8x11 and will be searched. Students who are not meeting behavioral expectations will not be able to attend this trip.
Wednesday, May 29th: We will have an end of year assembly to celebrate the years accomplishments, followed by Field Day. Students can wear any school appropriate athletic wear on this day, but should not wear crocs or slides. Students wil have the chance to opt out if they do not wish to participate in the activities. Students cannot bring any sort of squirt guns or shaving cream to school on this day. All materials will be provided to students.
Thursday, May 30th: We will have our last day of classes on this day, where students will celebrate the year with their teachers. Teachers may be celebrating in classrooms with snacks, but as a reminder, students should not bring food from home to share with others, per our handbook. Thursday, May 30th is a 1:00pm dismissal day, and students are able to wear athletic wear with crocs or slides for the last day of school!
Uniform for 2024-2025
Families, our uniform store is open! Please visit https://yesprep.revtrak.net/ to view our options for next school year and place your order! Orders will be available for pickup at the Hobby Secondary front office starting in June. Please allow a minimum of 48 hours after placing your order before pickup.

ASVAB Score:
The ASVAB scores for our 10th graders are now available. Your student will receive their ASVAB score and information about their future careers. Students will also be given information about the ASVAB exam and how to interpret their scores.
Hurricane Season: Food Safety & Emergency preparedness:

With hurricane season upon us, our partners at the Houston Food Bank’s Nutrition Education Department have compiled a list of nutritious non-perishable foods and supplies for your emergency supply kit. Please see the infographics for their recommendations. They have also provided information on food safety before, during, and after loss of power.
Summer Meals Resources:
When school cafeterias close for summer, Texas families can still access no-cost meals. Children 18 and younger and enrolled students with disabilities up to age 21 can eat healthy meals funded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Summer Meal Programs. The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) partners with food assistance organizations, schools, and other nonprofits to make these meals available at sites across Texas. Starting June 1st, you can find the nearest site in the following ways:

Low-Cost Clinic Options in the Greater Houston Area :
Aviator Families: The Texas Children’s Health Program for Immigrant and Refugee Child Health and Mobile Clinic Program has provided a quick and easy way to locate Low-Cost Clinics and Harris Health System Clinics in the Houston area. These clinics can assist in a range of health services like Pediatrics, Dental, Family Medicine, and other vital health services for you and your Aviators.
