8th Grade Family Night:
We invite all of our 8th grade families to attend our 8th grade Family Night on December 14th at 5pm in our cafeteria. Expect to hear about course offerings for your student when they get to high school, as well as information on student opportunities. All families who attend will be entered in to a raffle for prizes! If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Peck at jaclyn.peck@yesprep.org
December Field Trips:
We are excited to end the semester with grade level field trips. All students meeting behavior expectations in the month of December will be invited, and it is expected that students do not have more than 1 unexcused absence starting December 4th until the day of the trip (December 20th). All trip fees include transportation, entrance to the location, and lunch. Students are expected to be in uniform to attend the field trip. If you pay for a trip and your student becomes ineligible, you will be reimbursed. Below are the trip locations for each grade level and the grade level chairs contact information. Your student will bring home a permission slip on Monday, December 4th that must be turned in on or before Friday, December 15th to attend the trip.

As semester one comes to an end, please make sure your Aviators are on time to school everyday for the remainder of the year. Our campus attendance goal is 94.1% and currently we are at 93.4%. In order to meet our goal, we need our aviators present each day for the remainder of the month!
Student Spirit Day:
In addition to field trips to end the semester strong, we invite all students to participate in our Spirit Day themes. Starting Tuesday, December 5th, students can choose to participate in that day’s theme dress and earn squad points!
Please note: students should NOT wear athletic wear/sweatpants/leggings or crocs/slides on any day except for Monday, December 18th (Pajama day). Students who are out of dress code or not following the theme will be expected to call home for a change of clothes.
Plan of Support for Chemistry and Algebra II
Aviator Families! I wanted to update you all regarding the Chemistry/Algebra II plan for instruction to ensure all Aviators are learning and on track for all upcoming District Exams. For the past 2 weeks, Ms. Addison (Dean of Instruction) has implemented a robust plan in alignment with the district curriculum for our students. Students have assignments in Khan Academy that are assigned weekly. Every lesson includes aligned videos including teacher explanations, lectures, and models, and example problems that are walked through by the instructor in the videos before students are released to independently practice the daily skill. Students will have one graded assignment per week incorporated in the self-paced lessons. All lessons for both Chemistry and Algebra II are 100% aligned with the district curriculum to ensure our Aviators do not have a disruption in learning due to the vacancy and are successful on district assessments. We are working diligently to hire a qualified candidate to teach our Aviators and are hopeful to have a new teacher in the classroom after Winter Break. Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns you have. Thank you!
Upcoming Exams:
Common Assessments are behind us, but we are always collecting data through Summative Assessments! It’s vital that your Aviator is present to school every day to learn material and master daily objectives to be set up for success on upcoming assessments. See below for the next round of Summative Assessments!
