Families,

we are excited to take flight and ascend as we work to accelerate our socio-emotional and academic growth achievement in Quarter 3. Please be sure to speak with your student regularly about what they are learning in their classes and culture block, their growth goals, and their academic progress. Also, be sure to remind your students about the importance of meeting expectations so that we can focus on flying high on the wings of excellence, growth, and joy.

Reminders:

  • Doors open at 8:05 AM, and students are tardy after 8:30 AM. We offer morning Aspire if your students needs to arrive earlier.
  • Students must be in dress code and wear YES Prep Hobby outerwear.
  • High school students must put away personal tech (including earbuds/headphones) after the 8:25 AM bell. After this time, students using personal tech will earn a detention.

We are excited to continue to celebrate our Aviators for their excellence, growth, and joy! Shout out to all of the Aviators in the Stamina squad who won our Q2 competition. The Aviators in this squad won for earning points for attendance, behavior, squad competitions. and growth!

Read below for the individual students who earned a party today for Honor Roll and Perfect Attendance for Q2!

Don’t forget to check your student's Semester 1 report card, available on Skyward. Please reach out to our front office if you have any questions.

Lastly, it is Intent to Return season! This year, we have celebrated increased enrollment, and have the campus with the most students above our enrollment goal in YES Prep. In order to effectively plan for our Aviators for the 24-25 SY, we’ll need to know your intentions.  Read below for direction on how to complete your Intent to Return. We’ll be back next week to communicate the incentives! Be sure you complete your Intent to Return by the deadline for you and your Aviator to be included in the treats.

Best,

Adrienne Brown

Intent to Return:

As we close out this school year we are excited to start planning for the 2024-2025 school year! All families will need to complete their annual intent to return survey in Skyward by 2/2 to share if they will be returning for next school year. If you are undecided still, there is an option in the survey to share more information. Please complete this survey ASAP so we can start planning for next school year! We will be doing a grade level competition and raffles for students who complete the survey on time.

College Field Trips:

We are excited to bring students on our annual college field trips. Each grade level will be visiting a college campus and having the opportunity to explore and learn more about it! More information will be coming in next week’s family notes on cost and specific requirements for the trip.

TELPAS Family Meeting:

Next Thursday, 1/25 (5-5:30 pm), we will host an information session regarding the upcoming TELPAS exam for our Emergent Bilingual students. If your student(s) takes TELPAS, you will receive a Cardstock message and an email invitation to the event. This event serves to provide upcoming testing dates, overall information about the impact and importance of TELPAS, and ways you can help your Aviator prep for the exam. We hope to see you there!

Dress Code & Outwear Reminders:

As cold weather is upon us, please help ensure your student comes to school in appropriate dress code, including outerwear. Outerwear should be solid Hobby colors (navy, black, teal, gray, white) with no visible logo. Students can wear long sleeves under their spirit shirts, or can order the YES Prep Hobby sweater from our front office ($15) between 1/10 and 1/23. Students must be in correct dress code each day before going to class. If you have any questions, please reach out here or to our Front Office so we can support you.

College Corner: Develop Good Study Habits

  • Maintaining a high GPA depends on good study habits. Building those study habits now will help you succeed as classes get harder in high school. And you’ll be setting yourself up for success in college, too.
  • Some critical study habits that you can begin working on right away are:
  • Developing an organizational system and sticking to it
  • Completing assignments fully and turning them in on time
  • Note-taking skills: practice taking notes in class and trying different methods to see what works best for you
  • Managing your time effectively and efficiently
  • Exploring where and how you study and work the best
