This week, we kicked off the second quarter of the school year. We are so proud of the hard work of our students on their Common Assessment Exams, and we look forward to sharing scores with you all soon.

October 29th: 2022-2023 Application Window opens!
November 5th: Student Holiday- Friday, November 5th is a YES Prep Campus Development Day for staff and no school for students.

Teachers are currently finalizing your student’s Quarter 1 Report Card Grades. As a reminder, you can see your students grades at any time in Skyward at https://tinyurl.com/yesprepskyward.
Report Card grades for Quarter 1 will be available in Skyward by the end of the day on Wednesday, October 27th. We will also be sending out paper copies of student report cards by Friday, October 29th.
22-23 Lottery Opens on Friday, October 29th:
Our lottery for the 2022-2023 school year will open on Friday, October 29th! We will be accepting applications for 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade.
If you have family or friends who are interested in attending YES Prep Hobby next year, please have them submit their application online at https://yesprep.schoolmint.net.
Current Aviator families do not have to reapply to the lottery. If you currently have a child in 5th grade who you would like to attend YES Prep Hobby, please ensure that you submit their application online.
Book Fair-
We are excited to have the Scholastic Book Fair come to Hobby this fall! This is an opportunity to get books in the hands of Aviators, as well as earn money to build our Hobby Library! If you are interested in volunteering to help make this book sale a success, please complete this form. If you have questions reach out to Jaclyn.Peck@yesprep.org
Red Ribbon Week:
October 23rd - 31st is National Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is a way for schools to take a visible stance against drugs. At Hobby, we invite all students to participate by wearing our school colors on Wednesday, October 27th, as we unite against the use of drugs. We also have Crime Stoppers coming to speak to students on Thursday, October 28th about drug prevention. If you are interested in other resources regarding talking to your student about this topic, please reach out to our Student Support Counselor at Amanda.Martello@yesprep.org
Halloween Dress
Students who wish to come to school in a costume can do so on Friday, October 29th. All costumes must be school appropriate and meet our dress code requirements. Students in distracting attire may be asked to change or remove that attire. Please ensure your student does not have a fake weapon or wear a full head mask. We look forward to seeing your students creativity and selecting a costume as ‘Most Creative’!
Dia De los Muertos:
Dia De Los Muertos is a two-day festival that takes place every November 1st and November 2nd. It is an opportunity to honor the dead with festivals and lively celebrations. We will be celebrating Aviators loved ones with an Altar that will be put up near our Front Office. If your student would like to contribute a picture or small item, they should deliver it to the front office with the following information:

Items will be accepted from October 25th - October 29th. All items will be returned the first week of November. If you have questions please reach out to our front office.
Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:
- Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;
- Sore throat;
- New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);
- Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or
- New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.
If a student begins to experience any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician. If a student is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 to please notify our school by contacting the front office at 713-842-5600. We appreciate your continued support as we work together to ensure the safety of our school community. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our front office team.
If your student is absent please remember to send an excuse note or documentation with your child when they return. You can also email an absent excuse note to Ms. Rocha at candy.rocha@yesrep.org.

Do you have a 6th grade student or know of a family who does? Hobby still has spots available for enrollment in 6th grade. Visit this site for more information and to submit an application.
