Family Survey:
At YES Prep Hobby, we value the feedback from our YES Prep families so that we can continue to improve as a school. One of the ways that we solicit feedback is through our annual family survey. You should have received a direct link to complete the survey via your email address on file. However, we don’t want that to stop you from completing the survey! You can access the Family Survey at https://surveys.panoramaed.com/yesprep/familyfall2021/. The survey is due by Wednesday, December 22nd.
Coming to school everyday is vital to our Aviators achieving academic success. As the semester closes, we want every Aviator here learning as much as possible. We’re offering two weeks of incentives for Aviators present at school every day over the next two weeks; from 12/6-12/17.
Attendance Incentives:
Weekly Attendance Incentive for Week of 12/13
Aviators present the entire week (no absences, here for all 5 days) will be entered into a drawing for a holiday ham to take home to their family! We’ll provide one holiday ham for each grade – 6th, 7th, and 8th. The drawing takes place Friday after 1:00pm.
Hero
We are working to ensure that students are receiving timely feedback regarding their behavior in class. As a reminder to families, students receive demerits for in class, or small misbehaviors, as redirections. Students receive a demerit for not meeting the expectations below:
-
Engaged in learning: students are on time to class, focused, and prepared to learn
-
Adheres to safety protocols: students follow our dress code, wear an ID at all times on campus, and have a hall pass in the hallway
-
Practice unharmful behaviors: students are kind to others in their language and actions
Students receive a lunch detention every time they receive the 3rd demerit for the same behavior. Students have time set aside to check their HERO account each week, which is where this information is located. Families can set up an account to track their students' behaviors by following the steps below:
-
Click “parent”
-
Create an account
-
Add a student using your students ID number and birthday.
-
If you are having trouble adding your student, you can email jaclyn.peck@yesprep.org for support.
-
22-23 Lottery is open:

Engaging in Appropriate Online Behavior
At YES Prep Hobby, we believe that it is important that our students are responsible members of our school and broader community. Recently we have seen an increase in our Aviators engaging in behavior online that has had an impact on our students at school.
Please help us keep our school community safe by speaking with your Aviator about appropriate online behavior and monitoring your student’s use of social media applications.
Specifically we have seen students engaging in the following behaviors:
-
Creating anonymous Instagram accounts to share pictures and videos of other students
-
Sending direct messages (DMs) to other students with inappropriate language
-
Sharing pictures of students doing different activities on campus (eating, sleeping, etc)
Our YES Prep Code of Conduct does not allow for students to take pictures, videos, or voice recordings of other students or staff members. Please talk to your student about this policy and ensure that they understand it and the role they play in keeping school safe.
As a reminder from the YES Prep Student Handbook Campus Supplement, all YES Prep Hobby students who have a cell phone with them at school should have the cell phone turned off and put away during the school day. Students are able to use the front office phone if there is a pertinent message needing to be shared home during the school day.
Thank you for helping us keep our school community safe.
